Magic

February 28th, 2009 — 7:13pm

Today was a day of promises kept and magical smiles. Last night I was able to get 4 tickets to a hockey game for $41 dollars and my little girl will see her favorite team, the Penguins. Yep, that’s 4 tickets to an NHL game for $41. 4 rows from the top corner but so what. I’ve been begged for 4 months to go see the Penguins and now we are.

I also learned today my other favorite performer, Ray LaMontagne, is playing in Tampa and somehow I didn’t know. No worries, I’ll get a pair of fix and find someone to go with me no problem. Never seen him before and I’m very excited. Even if I end up going by myself, this is one show I cannot miss.

April will be a busy month. 2 concerts and 3 weddings will keep us more than busy! I hope gas prices come down a bit…

Then there was today. Today found my children in a place they don’t remember visiting last 2 years ago. My favorite place in the world as well which is the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. There is no better feeling on the planet than seeing this place through your children’s eyes. It is joy in the purist form and is amazing to say the least. While here today I had the pleasure of meeting a fellow blogger, Amy and her Disney twins. We shared a few moments while we enjoyed the parade with her hubs and daughters and I’m sure well meet there again soon!

Here are some camera pics from this magical day.

A Mostly Crappy Day

February 27th, 2009 — 7:55pm

Being sick with the flu is shitty. Going to bed under every blanket in the house because your freezing sucks. Feeling every hair on your body ache sucks. Waking up at 430 in the morning to a fever breaking sucks. Getting up at a fairly normal day time to call in to work sucks too. What’s even worse is stumbling out of bed after a nice hot shower and finding this:

Damn dog.

Oh well, that dog is lucky I love her so much. As she does me. Case in point, she could be off lounging in the front room completely out of sight for hours but every time I go to the bathroom there she is when I come out. Just laying on the floor in front of the door waiting to make sure I emerge and all is ok. She wasn’t there when I went in, just when I leave. So even though she likes to hunt for snacks in the trash, my beagle is a good one.

The highlight of my day? Ben Folds tickets. My best friend and I worked together to secure the best seats we could and that we did. We will be sitting front row, center, balcony at the Hard Rock. The viewpoint will be perfect at this fairly intimate venue and I cannot wait. I did have 3rd row center on the floor but failed to click next in time to secure them as we debated which seats to actually buy. No matter, this show will be awesome and the seats are perfect. I always try to sit as close to the sound guy as possible. They are always in the middle and they are tweaking the sound so it sounds perfect to where they are. Why sit anywhere else?

If any of you have any lines, ties, connections or anything to the Hard Rock in Orlando, or Mr. Folds, or any of the promoters for this concert, I would REALLY love to meet Mr. Folds. He is on my short list of people I’d love to meet. As much as I’d like to pick his set list, I really don’t care cause I love it all. The only guarantee is that the second song he plays will be Zach & Sarah. For your pleasure enjoy my theme song which he wrote.

3 tunes and some more brain flatulence

February 26th, 2009 — 8:22pm

Thought I’d start out with a fun old tune. Been stuck in my head since yesterday and I’m not sure why. Just a fun song that you can turn up and sing along with. I’m sure you remember the words. I think it’s because I started therapy in hopes of curing my insomnia and there’s a funny line in the song about a therapist. I think the prognosis is good, I was instructed to be more physically active, try to attend more family themed events and activities. Sporting events and concerts were mentioned specifically. I was also told I should write more often. So I can certainly do all these things and I’m actually quite excited at the prospect. I probably will not write everything here, some things will stay in the moleskine, but I can do more here.

In my last post I talked about the song I planned on dancing with my sister to at her wedding in 2 months. I had not spoken a word to her about it since that post, only my mom. My mother actually named the exact song she said she wanted to have the dance with. They are one in the same. So since we were on the same page, here is the tune.

Work this week has been pretty good I’d say. I managed to handle a seemingly impossible HR process and got myself 2 people hired. I also released 2 major applications that has my CIO sending me messages of praise in the late evening hours. She even told me to think of something nice to do as a celebration for the accomplishment. I don’t want anything like that though, I’m just doing what I do. Being able to still do it every day and get paid for it is thanks enough.

Once again this week, the flu has stricken my body. Not the stomach flu this time though, just some other strain that makes every hair on my body ache. It sucks, but at least I can eat. Speaking of hair, I REALLY need a haircut. I think it’s been 6 weeks which is 2 weeks more than my usual appointment so I feel a bit shaggy. Need to get that trimmed up hopefully tomorrow if I feel alright and I can get an appointment with my girl.

On a major high note, one of my top favorite performers is coming to town. Tickets go on sale tomorrow and there is no way in hell I will miss this show. I cannot wait and I will only have to wait a month to see him. It’s a headline show so I am very much excited to get 2 hours of his live performances. I saw him once before a couple years ago open for John Mayer, which was an amazing show in itself, but this is a backyard headline set. In searching for pre-sale tickets I looked up his fan club. The guy is so damn cool his club is called “The People’s Front of Judea.”  If you get and find a chuckle in the reference, you are quite swell in my book! Enjoy a fave tune from his last record…
