Celebrate the Irish

Tomorrow is my favorite holiday. I’m not 100% Irish like my Dad was, but I’m mostly Irish. Even though I don’t eat mashed potatoes or even a baked potato unless is drowned in cheese and bacon, I still have green blood pulsing through me. Plus I share my name with the holiday so I will drink up my Guinness, maybe some Smithwicks and perhaps a sip of a fine Irish malt. Either way I will wear my green tomorrow and walk around saying happy saint me day. I much prefer when the holiday falls on a weekend as there is way more to do when you don’t have to get up for work the next day. 2 years ago it was a Saturday and I made it the best St. Paddy’s Day ever. I went and saw my Mets play a spring training game and then drove a little further south and saw my Islanders play the Panthers with 2 of my best friends. My 2 favorite teams in the world on the same day, with perfect weather, green beer and good friends. The stars were definitely in alignment for me that year.

Because I am Irish, I will accept kisses. Please email pics of yourself giving me my kiss and I’ll respond with one of my own. Maybe I’ll post the best ones here after. A little contest we’ll say that will most likely carry no prize except a little feature on this blog. C’mon lassies, it’ll be a hoot and maybe I’ll come up with a cool prize of no monetary value cause I’m a little lacking in the monetary. Send your kisses to lyncher89 at gmail dot com.

The real stuff according to Wikipedia about St. Patrick’s Day.

I wanted to say thanks to all those that came out of the woodwork on my last post to say hello. Some of you I new were out there and a few I did not. Regardless, I’m glad you’re here! The blogroll is in the works, I want to try and organize it well and I have a bunch to do so please be patient. I won’t miss anyone. Hey, if any of you also Twitter, I’m on there too. Hockeymandad is my handle. Original I know. It’s kinda fun and my mom isn’t there like on facebook. Sorry mom, but that would be a little creepy I think! Don’t worry though, I’ll keep posting all my kids pics here so you won’t miss anything.

Speaking of camera pics, this is my sunset camera phone shot of the day. Daylight savings means I miss sunsets again as I am usually home before but due to a soccer match this evening, I stole this shot on the way. I love the light patterns caused by the clouds.

And now, for your Saint Patrick’s Day listening pleasure.
