Beautiful

March 26th, 2009 — 10:16pm

This song is just that. The band wrote it for the soundtrack to Twilight. I just saw it tonight when I got notice they will be playing here in August. Wanna go with me? Can’t promise they’ll play this tune, so far it’s only been performed on stage once. Anyway, enjoy the song, enjoy the lyrics and dedicate it to someone you love. For me, it goes to Mrs. Hockeyman.

I can almost believe that you’re real
And it’s love in my heart that I feel
But there’s something between us
That can’t seem to get through it all

If I could only read your mind
I would know how to save you this time
With love, love is worth the fall
If I could only save the day
Here in your world I could stay
For love, love is worth the fall

Show me the way, let me see
Into your soul let me breathe
I will wait through the ages
And watch you sleep straight through the night

If I could only read your mind
I would know how to save you this time
With love, love is worth the fall
If I could save the day
Here in your world I could stay
For love, love is worth the fall

Sleep, darling sleep
Dream, darling dream
Open those dreams to me
Yeah, only read your mind
I would know how to save you this time
With love, love is worth the fall
Yeah if I could only save the day
Here in your world I would stay
For love, love is worth the fall
Love, love is worth the fall

I see you right there and your smiling
Alone in your bed, that’s my love
It’s better than listening
When nothing is said
I lay down beside you here
I do it for love
Love, love is worth the fall
Love, love is worth the fall
Love, love is worth the fall
Love, love is worth it all

Soooo….yeah

March 24th, 2009 — 10:51pm

First of all thanks to all my newest readers who came via my wife’s blog feature on the homepage of my city’s newspaper. Thanks to her for plugging my humble abode on the web as well.

So yeah, I had this whole post written about sports and this time of year but when I read it back my thought was who cares? It was boring even to me! Instead I think I’ll just ramble on for a few minutes and see what kind of farts my brain will expel tonight.

I wonder for those of us who do not have our parents or many relatives living nearby how parents are able to do simple dates with themselves. Something simple like dinner and a movie sans the kids. It has become such a rare occurrence for my wife and I that when we do go out to dinner we really don’t talk much. I think both of us just appreciate the silence of the moment that it’s a treat in itself. We keep abreast on current events and daily happenings well enough during the times with children so mostly we’ll just people watch and enjoy a relaxed evening without worrying about bathroom runs, messy fingers, and potential tantrums. Babysitters are expensive with the tight economy so just a date night out is rare unless it’s an event. Generally events are not solo and events are usually more fun with a group of friends we rarely get to hang with as they have kids too.

Saturday my oldest baby plays in her first soccer game. Her first attempt at participating in an organized activity with her parents and others watching. She’s a shy kid so I am nervous she will not like the attention. I mean if she scores, how can I get myself and the other parents to not cheer? The kid doesn’t like to be sung happy birthday to on her own birthday. I know she’ll do well if she participates. She gave her best in her first practice and only needs to be told once what the rules are. She has skill and is highly competitive, she just hates attention.

If I publish a post that has letters missing, you’ll have to excuse me. I spell check, but that’s not perfect. My kids use my laptop more than I do and when 3 and 4 year old’s use anything extensively, things happen. My MacBook Pro actually belongs to my employer but it’s kind of neat to see the little wizards with the keyboard and trackpad. They are really quite good with it but sometimes sticky fingers find their way, even if unintentional. B and U seem to be the problem keys.

As if you didn’t know, I am a geek. Electronic shiny things make me squeal with joy. I love all things Apple but who doesn’t. The stuff just works and it’s all sexy to look at. I love sports and I love music and if I love something, I get totally immersed in it’s world. Not to the crazy stalker wait in line for 6 days to get the latest and greatest way, but I pay attention. Give me a problem at work and I am relentless to solve it in any way I can possibly find. I love challenges with code at work, it makes coding fun and when you spend most of your day writing code, you need a little fun now and then. Which is why we all carry the latest in Nerf gun technology.

Question: Would you pay someone like me who loves music so much to prepare a playlist of music for you on an iPod? You would buy and own the music, but I would provide the service of finding what you like and what I think you would like based on a music preference profile.

One week from tomorrow I will see one of my top favorite performers live. I love Ben Folds and all his music. Anyone with leads on backstage passes or meet & greets at the Hard Rock in Orlando, PLEASE PLEASE hook a hockeyman up. Thanks.

Ok, off to bed and back to work for me but before I go for today, I have a little song for you. This is a new band I have just found and I really dig their sound. Enjoy!
